BMW iX3 - World Car of the Year and Electric Vehicle of the Year

The competition for the title of World Car of the Year is becoming increasingly challenging in today’s automotive industry. Manufacturers continue to compete through technology, innovation, design, and driving experience. In this highly competitive environment, the winners of the 2026 World Car Awards have been announced.

An international jury of 98 automotive journalists awarded the BMW iX3 not one, but two prestigious titles.

At the World Car Awards ceremony held during the New York International Auto Show, the iX3 was named both World Car of the Year and World Electric Vehicle of the Year. During extensive test drives, the model impressed the jury with its outstanding performance, driving dynamics, and advanced technological features.

To win the “World Car of the Year” title, the BMW iX3 defeated 57 premium competitors. Meanwhile, 43 vehicles competed for the “World Electric Vehicle of the Year” award.

This marks a historic achievement for the German automaker, as BMW’s previous “Car of the Year” victory came 20 years ago, in 2006, with the 3 Series (E90).

The title of the world’s best luxury car of 2026 went to the Lucid Gravity. This marks Lucid Motors’ second victory in the category, following the Lucid Air’s win in 2023.

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 N was named the World Performance Car of the Year, capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds. Meanwhile, the Mazda 6e/EZ-6 received the award for World Car Design of the Year.

Since the establishment of the World Car Awards in 2003, German brand Audi has collected the highest number of awards, with 11 victories. Mercedes-Benz ranks second with 9 awards.
